Raila Odinga and Rigathi Gachagua's First Meeting After the Election



After trading insults and accusations against each other publicly during campaign period, deputy president Rigathi Gachagua have met with former prime minister hon Raila Omollo Odinga this morning at Mombasa.

Raila has a history of calling a truce with the government in power and symbolize it with a hand shake. This is why there has been mixed reactions online with some of Azimio supporters accusing Raila of betraying them while a section of Keya kwanza side accusing Rigathi of trying to foster handshake against his boss President Ruto’s consent.

President William Ruto has been quoted severally on campaign trail and even after winning expressing his dissatisfaction with handshake and saying that he won’t entertain any form of truce in his government. Instead, president Ruto has been urging the opposition to remain in opposition and keep a check on his government for effective execution of democracy.

The contents of Rigathi Gachagua and Railas discussion isn’t yet known but their move to organize a meeting has been praised in several quarters as it is viewed to be easing tension considering we have just come from a highly contested emotions filled election.
