R. Kelly Found Not Guilty of Rape Charges in Controversial Trial

R. Kelly Found Not Guilty of Rape Charges in Controversial Trial.

R&B singer R. Kelly was found not guilty on all 14 counts of aggravated sexual abuse brought against him by the Chicago-area jury in his highly publicized trial last week, and now that he’s been vindicated in court, he can get back to focusing on his career.

A Look at Both Sides In a scandalous trial, the once R&B music sensation, R. Kelly was found not guilty on all fourteen counts related to accusations of sexual assault and battery for an incident dating back to 2008 involving a then-14-year-old girl. Upon hearing the verdict, friends and family of the singer rejoiced and some left with tears streaming down their faces.

What Did We Learn From the Trial? R. Kelly has been acquitted on all counts after being accused of sexually assaulting and attempting to control women through coercion, violence, and as a psychological means to control them during the course of nearly a decade (1998-2000). This verdict is controversial and speaks to our culture's misunderstanding around consent and sexual assault.

The Jurors Reveal Their Reasoning When asked what made them find R. Kelly not guilty, juror Jay Baugh said that he wasn't convinced beyond a reasonable doubt and was hoping for a guilty verdict. The prosecution admitted that the case against R. Kelly was old, calling it a whack-a-mole case. What set this case apart from others is that these allegations came to light only after R.

Could there be another trial? R. Kelly was found not guilty on all 14 counts of the sexual abuse allegations, but experts believe that there is still a chance for R. Kelly to be found guilty in another trial because too many aspects of the case were unanswered at this point: one was whether there was consent and two what really happened during the alleged assault which took place when R. Kelly's accuser was 13 years old. It also remains unclear who leaked R. Kelly's private video tape to Lifetime TV- producers would have had to get it from someone close to him or with access

What happens next? R. Kelly has been found not guilty on all four counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse by a Cook County jury and Judge Timothy J. McGinty today (February 25, 2019). R Kelly had faced a maximum sentence of up to 30 years in prison if he was convicted and could have been released with credit for time served; but that is not the case. The first reported incident took place when R.Kelly was 27 years old (1994) and the last reported incidence took place when he was 39 (2009). Three more young girls testified against him and we are still waiting to see if they will receive the justice they deserve from this decision even though all four counts were justifiable due to some shaky evidence it leaves us wondering what will happen next?
